Innovation plays a vital role in improving healthcare outcomes, especially in areas that significantly affect quality of life. The Bladder & Bowel UK Product Innovation Award 2026 celebrates groundbreaking products designed to support people living with bladder and bowel conditions, recognising solutions that truly put patient needs first.

Recognising patient centred innovation

The Product Innovation Award highlights products that address real challenges faced by individuals with bladder or bowel issues. The award focuses on design-led solutions that demonstrate clear patient benefits, emphasising products developed with strong patient input and evidence of improved quality of life outcomes.

Entrants must show how their product responds to a significant unmet need and how patients or their families were involved in the design, testing, or development process. The judging panel – made up of clinicians, researchers, academics, and people with lived experience – evaluates how effectively each product improves patient care and wellbeing.

Who can apply

The 2026 award is open to products launched or re-launched after 1 January 2025 that demonstrate measurable improvements in patient outcomes. The product must be available for individual purchase or prescription in the UK. Pharmaceutical products, including medications and supplements, are not eligible for entry.

Applicants are required to submit:

  • A short description of the product
  • A digital presentation or video explaining the innovation
  • Supporting documentation demonstrating patient benefit and design rationale

Applications for the 2026 award close on 1 June 2026, with judging taking place from 8 June to 31 July 2026. The winner will be announced on 7 August 2026.

Celebrating progress in continence care

Winning the Product Innovation Award provides valuable recognition within the healthcare sector. The successful organisation receives a glass award, certificate, and promotional media pack, along with visibility through Bladder & Bowel UK’s website, newsletters, and social media channels. The winner is also invited to present their innovation at a national symposium later in the year.

Past winners demonstrate the diversity of innovation within continence care. For example, the 2025 award recognised the CaudaEquina App, highlighting how digital tools can improve awareness and management of bladder and bowel health.

Advancing better outcomes for patients

By spotlighting creative solutions and encouraging patient-centred design, the Bladder & Bowel UK Product Innovation Award helps drive progress in continence care. From medical devices to digital health tools, these innovations contribute to better support, improved dignity, and enhanced quality of life for people affected by bladder and bowel conditions.
